Ladies, it is time to look deeper than the eye can see. Put on your spiritual goggles. We have spent much time dealing with the "fruits" but never really getting down to the root of our problems. It may be you have found yourself in a vicious cycle you can't get out of. You've tried breaking the cycle over and over again but have not been successful. Dig deeper girlfriend! Fruits always have roots. It may be you have been treating a spiritual issue with a physical remedy. Matthew 3:10 says, "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire". Could it be possible that you've been cutting down fruits and not trees?
The fruit is the drug addiction; the root is what's fueling the addiction. The fruit is sexual impurity; the root is what's fueling the immoral behavior. The fruit is the lies; the root is the reason behind the cover up. The fruit is the abuse; the root is what's stirring up in the heart. The fruit is depression; the root is the thoughts that fuel your mind. If you’re going to effectively destroy the fruit, you have to cut down the root by exposing it, uplifting it and throwing it in the fire.
Every fruit that does not come from the spirit needs to be rooted up:
Whatever defiles you, whatever causes you to sin, whatever does not come from God:
1. Expose it - Identify the cause (root). Do not be ashamed of the cause, pull it out and do not let it cripple you any longer.
2. Uplift it- Did you know, some trees can develop roots that extend up to two or three times the tree's height! Remember, great oak trees were tiny acorns one day. This may be no easy task! It may be painful but well worth it in the end.
3. Burn it- Throw it in the fire where the root will die and could never be replanted.
4. Replace it- Galatians 5:22-25 says, "but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit".
Let us boldly address the issues we've been keeping under control, but never truly handled. However, we cannot be effective without the help of the Holy Spirit. May He fill you with courage, boldness and strength to attack the fruit by removing the root.
Love,
Zuleika
