Identity

Dear Single Mom,

Are you struggling with who you are or who you think you are? Do you allow the opinions of others to dictate your identity? To be completely honest, I have struggled with my identity for years. Not knowing who I was and what makes me happy. As a mother, it is easy to allow your perception of what a mother looks like to discourage you. Let's not forget the opinions of what others think a good mother appears. We begin to feel inadequate, failures, and disappointments. We allow our emotions to control how we perceive ourselves.

Single Mom, let me remind you. You will make many mistakes as a mother, say the wrong things at times, and have break downs, and you will not be perfect. That's what makes you-you. God has created you differently; he set you apart. You were fearfully and wonderfully made. Remember, God entrusted you with children because he knew that you were capable of the job. In all your mistakes and imperfections, God loves you and will guide you every step of the way. When you begin to doubt who you are, remember who God says you are.

Dear Single mom, you are a child of God. You are a kingdom's kid. You are more than a conqueror. You are strong. You are blessed and highly favored. You are fearful! You are so loved. You are not alone. Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

Single mom that means God already knew you were going to be a single mom! He already knew that you were going to go through some trials and tribulations, but He has called you to be a prophet. He has called you to use your story to bring glory to His name. Always remember who God says you are! Begin to walk in the identity God gave you!

Signed by His daughter,

Jovonna Coleman
