Have you ever asked God for something and He didn’t answer? Have you ever asked your Mom or Dad for a specific gift and you didn’t receive it? How did that make you feel? Disappointed? Or maybe even a little hurt, right? Those are pretty normal feelings to have. We live in a society where we want everything our way. It’s all about me, me, me. Have you ever thought maybe you didn’t receive that gift, because you weren’t ready for it? Sometimes, we have to wait until it’s the right time to receive the gift. God will withhold our request because He never wants to release anything prematurely. God will protect us from things He knows could possibly hurt us if we are not ready. This reminds me of a child learning how to ride a bike. You slowly begin to remove the training wheels, because you know that a premature release can potentially harm the child. You have to practice with the child daily to prepare for the right time of release. Consistent practice prepares the child to ride without falling. Just as a child practicing regularly will precede them learning how to successfully ride a bike without falling, we also have to consistently prepare for what we are asking God for. Preparation precedes the gift.
Dear Single Mom,
What are you preparing for? How are you preparing for your blessing?
We know that in Matthew 6:22 it says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
We have to seek God first! Meaning, we need to be in constant communication with Him. Preparing our minds and hearts to what the word of God says. The more time we spending getting to know the heart of Christ, the more He begins to reveal the things we need rather than the things we want. Preparation preceded the gift. Continue to prepare for what you are asking God for!
